Amazing authentic african ‘hotel’ with super atmosphere!
The owner says himself it’s not a hotel, but a home. And it’s easy to see why. This place is a warm community with great facilities and nature hand in hand. The atmosphere and the staff make sure you feel at home and they’ll help you with whatever you would need.
Me and my friends had a wonderful time in this beatiful home and we hope to return sometime soon!

Bwejuu is set on a beautiful beach north of Paje. There’s a lot to do in the area (caves, forests , spice farms, Rock restaurant) and lots of bars and restaurants however you’ll need transportation to access them.
We travelled around the entire island in an hire car which I would highly recommend, was great fun and easy to find our way around. I would say this area is more dirty and littered which is a shame as the rest of the country is really well kept.

We were a family of 10 people.
We were a family of 10 people. I did not expect to walk in sand all over the place. The foliage kept it a little cooler. The pool was fine and clean. I did not expect no air conditioning and trying to stay cool with a standing room fan.
Food was Ok - nothing special. The drive from the airport after dark was dangerous. The walk to the beach was short. A few restaurants were open down the beach.
We moved to another resort just down the street after one night and had clean rooms, air conditioning, on the beach, great meals. We kept our keys because they said we could not get a refund for the 2nd and 3rd nights we had reserved. They said we could come back and use the pool but did rent out our rooms from the 2nd & 3rd nights.
It was more like a hostel but was not advertised well on Booking.com

Bwejuu is a small village with two shops where you can buy groceries and cosmetics. There is public transport there. In the vicinity is bigger village of Paje where there are more restaurants and shops.
The beach is absolutely beautiful - white sand, wide a very long (excellent for walks and looking for shells), few people there.
The best restaurants are Shanti café and Sahari.
You can hire kite board there and teacher for kite boarding.
8 km from Bwejuu is beautiful place where you can watch sunset and enjoy big bar with excellent drinks and good music for dancing.

Bwejuu has a great beach.
Bwejuu has a great beach. It is relatively quiet with only a few people working the beach to sell tours etc. We met some friendly locals and joined in some birthday celebrations, which was fun.
Best be aware that there is a big tide so you can’t swim all the time. When the tide is in, the water is shallow and very warm.
In the evenings there is a warm breeze that is refreshing and keeps the mosquitoes away.

Bwejuu area is very disappointing.
Bwejuu area is very disappointing. It has a beach that cannot be enjoyed, far from everywhere, much more expensive than Nungwi and much lower quality. It is a complete mess. I don’t understand why Paje and Bwejuu area are so famous
Loved everything about the hotel - the young couple who owned hotel, they are so nice and welcoming. Staff are very attentive. Great beach with white sand. After 8 days of Kilimanjaro trek, this is truly paradise. There was complementary boat trip to snorkel and swim; I was lucky to observe professional coconut harvesting which happens every two weeks, then taste the fresh coconut water and flesh. We flew in early in the am from Kilimanjaro and we were surprised to find our room was ready!! So flexible and accommodating.
This resort is awesome! You feel like you are in paradise. Everything was amazing, from the staff to food. The staff is so kind and welcoming, they want to please the customer. Breakfast is great and delicious, many options to choose. Rooms are designed with the taste, rooms also have balconies. Location is great, Bwejuu is a calm place where you can chill, not many resorts around. Hotel is beachfront. This hotel is the best one that we have been in Zanzibar! I would definetely choose it again.
Great recently renovated resort right next to Bwejuu beach, one if not the finest of the whole island with white sand and turquoise water. Staff was friendly and could check us in at 4 am without any hassle. The room was spacious and clean, with daily cleaning service and 1L of complimentary bottled water each day. We were in the farthest room from the ocean and yet we could still enjoy an excellent view from the balcony. Breakfast (7.30-10.30) did not have much variety but was tasty.
The best hosts in the world. So available, so knowledgable, so flexible - they do everything in their power to make their guests happy. The hotel is right at the beach, the decoration is very much fitting the Zanzibar culture. All the personnel is very nice as well. If available, try to have one of the rooms with sea view - sleeping and waking up with the sound of the ocean, at a proximity hard to top!
Last but not least: amazing welcome and goodbye gifts - thank ok so much!
Where to start! What a gorgeous little gem this place was! Hidden away in a quiet spot on the beach so but still easy to get to the main event places in Paje ect... Staff were so so nice and my room was lovely, nice big bed and super clean (this has not always been my experience with other hotels in the area). Waited a little long for food but honestly the big menu made up for it and it was cooked perfectly. Wish I could have extended my stay, I'll be back soon!
Bellevue is up on a hill just above the beach and has a wonderful jungle feel. The staff are really friendly and the bar area is lovely. The bar was open till 10 pm and it was a really nice place to hang out and play games. Our family room had a huge balcony with a wonderful view over trees down to the sea. The pool was being renovated when we were there so we were allowed to use the luxury pool at Bellevue’s sister hotel on the beach which was fantastic.
I liked the quiet area, away from busy streets and beaches. A lovely sandy garden with chill music, greenery and flowers around. If you want to get rested and feel rejuvenated after staying among palm trees, the ocean, the sand, flowers and good food, this is the right place. I keep coming back to this place. This was my place when I first came to Zanzibar two years ago, and now is my choice whenever I go to the east coast. I just love it.
If you're looking for a place to really connect with nature, and tune in to your inner self, this is just the perfect place to be. The hotel gives you an experience to really sink into the African culture, their interiors and the whole estate show it. The staff are extremely and genuinely kind, nice and helpful. Thank you for this wonderful solo travel experience, Bellevue. I am definitely going back with my husband next time.
- the staff were amazing, very friendly, welcoming and very attentive to any needs. made to feel very comfortable
- food was amazing !!! Sea food platter was delicious and a good variety in the menu.
- room had a sea view and the bed was very comfortable
- facilities, pool was great, right next to the beach so can swim at high tide, massage facilities easy to book and very good
- a few nice restaurants up from the hotel too
a small gem ! very quiet, and cosy away only a 5/8 minutes pleasant bike ride on the beach from paje water sport clubs and night life!
Ursula and jeoffroy are happy and active to make your stay very pleasant
I loved the local live music entertainment during dinner ! I strongly recommend Helwas for the active ones that also cherish quiet and chilled times !
Sparkling infinity pool overlooking the ocean. Very clean rooms. Very kind staff. Quiet beach with few vendors. Very good restaurant reasonably priced. Perfect Zanzibar beach vacation. We used Ramadan for our transfer. He is a great driver, very safe and reliable and friendly.
The property was very clean and relaxing. The staff was welcoming and made you feel at home. It has a very “feel at home” vibe, as this place is composed of only 6 bungalows. You get the privacy of a hotel, minus all the chaos of a hotel. It’s super close to the beach as well.
Great place with a stunning view, the stuff is very polite and nice, the breakfast is delicious, all the tours can be booked directly from the hotel. I would highly recommend the place for those who wish to have a good vacation surrounded with great people and beautiful view.
This resort is about as close to paradise as you can get! The location is right on the white sand beach. The staff is fantastic and very responsive to their guests' needs. I've stayed at several resorts along the east shore of Zanzibar, but this is the place I'll return!
That was the most incredible boutique hotel we have ever been too. We had a house right on the beach in front of the Ocean. View was breath taking. every morning we could experience the most stunning Sunrise on our own beach ❤️ would definitely recommend!!!!!
We had a great stay at Helwas hotel. The place is beautiful, very quiet and peaceful, with a nice beach in front of the hotel and a good restaurant. Our hosts were very kind and helpful. I can only recommend to stay there !
TThis place is a gem next to Bwejuu Beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable. You have everything you need. You can take a motorcycle taxi to get to Paje town and the beach is three minutes away.
beachfront location and lovely bar area with sun loungers and seating so you can admire the views. Staff were all very helpful, especially Ibrahim who was brilliant and always so attentive.
Very nice place to stay - the hotel has a pool and nice villas. Good breakfast is included. There is a possibility to have lunch and dinner at the territory - paid separately.
